I thought this was going to be his last entry but then uhhh he posted another two more and I will get to those as soon as I'm done here. I'll be posting them in separate entries because I feel like each of his entries from now on will merit their own posts. [~hibimaosuki]

24th-Oct-2013 10:46 pm - Thank you, Mao.

Back when I was an active fandomer, I was most known for being one of the most informed/updated followers of Hamao Kyousuke. Since he first stepped onto the Japanese entertainment scene in 2007, he's been one of my most favourite guys. Heck, my current username is because of him.

Mao has given us six wonderful years of his infectious smile, innocent charm, developing talent, and -- as he grew out of his fresh-from-high-school self into the young adult he is today -- adorable-turned-sexy good looks.

(I lament the "developing talent" part the most: admittedly, he was not naturally talented from the beginning like most of his colleagues, but in the past couple of years you could clearly see how fast he had been improving. I look forward to eventually seeing Messiah.)

In an emergency broadcast via Amesuta on Oct24, he announced that he is retiring from show business. The entry posted by his staff can be found here (which I will no longer translate, as all it contains is announcements on his retirement and upcoming events). No reasons were given in the post. As of the time I made this post, I haven't yet seen the broadcast, so right now I don't know if he said anything. Apparently, he had cried a lot and had thought long and hard about his decision to retire from acting.

He will still be appearing in publicity events for his current projects up until February.

Thank you for six years of entertainment, Hamao. Thanks for choosing to share your passion for acting and for life with your fans. Whatever you choose to do with this next chapter of your life (rumours have reached my ears eyes, in the half hour since my friend drkparadise alerted me to the news, that he intends to study law? Huh, interesting thought), we wish you all the best!! [~hibimaosuki

BONUS: Here is a post from Kobayashi Yutaka, one of his kouhai at Fortune Entertainment, and who co-starred with him in the fourth Takumi-kun Series movie (as Yoshizawa Michio). You may also recognise him as Mizuki Hajime in the TeniMyu reboot, and as the main man in the currently running Kamen Rider Gaim.

Soooo this is probably going to be a Mao-exclusive blog now... Because Daisuke uses too many emoticons and I am lazy...

For the newcomers: Welcome! A little history lesson which you will probably skip but I will tell it anyway. maigo_no_egao was a blog-translating initiative (of sorts) that I and a couple of friends started way back in 2009. It originally began in 2008 as a solo project of mine at yumenofukushuu, exclusively featuring Takiguchi Yukihiro (and if you are here because of DaiMao, you should know who he is otherwise you do not exist to me because Takki is literally the mostest perfectest Japanese man to ever exist. Soon after I started, some of my other LJ friends were also attempting to translate their own favourites (the names of whom you shall see in the sidebar of this site, to the left), and we decided that instead of having separate journals, we should just do all our translations in one account! Hence maigo_no_egao was born. (And then I eventually moved Takiguchi over to here, abandoning YnF -- but look, my header pic there is so pretty ♥)

As the months went by, real life overtook all of us, and we could no longer add our boys' jobs on top of our own personal loads (school and work, mostly), and eventually MnE died. :( I tried reviving it recently, but pretty much no one read it. It used to be so active, too...

BUT! Here I am, trying to bring it back to life! Again! Because I said over on Facebook that I would if enough people were interested. (Five people Liking my comment hardly counts as "enough people", but I need an excuse to try to sharpen my uber-rusty Japanese non-skills.)

And please don't think that I have bad English. Far from it. I have near-perfect English. (I like to think I'm better at it than most native speakers. :P) But the way I translate the entries is that I try to keep the translations matching the lines. So I break up the English lines the way the Japanese lines are in the original entry, which results in very basic-sounding English that in all honesty would make my ears bleed if I heard it spoken. </grammar Nazi>

Disclaimer: It has been YEARS since I last practiced Japanese. I have no need for it AT ALL in the course I'm taking up now, and studying it seriously takes up too much time that I should instead be spending on my school lessons, so these translations are not perfect. They get the gist across, but they are not 100% correct transliterations. I did the best that I could with whatever few skills I have left :)

On with the show! [~hibimaosuki]

HOLYSHIT YOU GUYS I'M ALIVE. Pardon my new way of speaking, Glee has lured me to the darkest depths of the internet known as Tumblr, and we all know that Tumblr people are a special kind of people with a different manner of usage of the English language...

*cough* Anyway. So, long story short, stuff happened in school and so I've been held back a year with only eight measly units to my name this semester and the next, leaving me with a fuckton of free time.

Which, in less violent (and bitter) words, translates to "Oh hey, maybe I should do something about my failing Japanese skills and revive my old translation blog!"

Hence the return. Also because Mao having an iPhone phone means he won't be abusing the Ameblo-provided gif emoticons that I can no longer rightclick-copyURL-pastetoentry. Sadly, the same cannot be said for trigger-happy, Android-bearing Daisuke, who I now officially love more on the principal belief that Apple should stop existing and everyone should own Android phones.

I will try to stick to updating every Saturday, as best as I can. Oh, yeah, I haven't been active on LJ in over a year (posting once every three blue moons, and only to torture my poor f-list with stories of this guy I'm in love with), so I have to relearn the ropes.

... Before proceeding, please note that I have been out of touch with the Japanese fandom since Glee ate up my life after Darren Criss and Chris Colfer sang their first flirty duet together a little over two years ago, so I am updating merely the translations and with no background as to why my two favorite Japanese dumbasses (read: Mao and Daisuke) took a trip to Malaysia and Thailand and apparently are working together on something again IS THIS FUSHIGI NA OUJI-SAMA II THAT THEY ARE DOING ARE THEY HEADLINING JUST THE TWO OF THEM etc etc etc *breathe, quit with the run-on sentences*

So, without further ado, いくわよ! [hibimaosuki]

I'm back!! My sudden return was inspired by [1] Daisuke posting daily as a countdown to his birthday (GEEZ, as if I didn't have enough to put up with given Mao's posts, when Daisuke moved to Ameblo he ABUSED THE HECK OUT OF EMOTICONS, even worse than Mao does), and [2] Mao no longer posting daily. Haha.

This second semester of mine, which starts on Thursday, is going to have the lightest workload, and my Japanese is getting rusty, so I figured I'd work on MnE again. I might not work on Takiguchi's for a while, and I'm seriously contemplating picking up a certain Puppy-chan's blog, except he's also an abusive emoticon user. Haha.

So anyway. 改めて、どうもよろしく!! [hibimaosuki]

Now to end on a happier note, I have finished translating Nagoaoka's July 2009 entries. There are quite a few things to see here, so please take a look when you have time. At the very least, you should see the pictures he posed for the clothing website, Sputnicks. I had forgotten he had done that until I saw the link he posted.

Nagaoka, I will definitely catch up to you!
